Since its inception in 1959, the International Society of Dermatology, initially named the International Society of Tropical Dermatology, had a particular interest in global dermatology and tropical skin diseases. The organization also fostered a broad interest in all aspects of dermatology, such as basic science, public health, and venereology. Through various projects, regional meetings, and mentorship opportunities, the Society prioritizes teaching dermatology in developing countries.
